I born into a secretive worldwide cult which claims exclusive origin from the apostolic ministry of Jesus. Itinerant homeless leaders and their obedient followers are known as "Workers and Friends". Members are conditioned against outsiders, especially other Christians, and must abstain from "worldly" appearance and interests, resulting in bondage to many arbitrary rules. This is the story of my journey out of that religious bondage. It will resonate deeply with anyone who has been subject to the trauma of spiritual abuse. This is ultimately a book about finding true freedom in Christ alone.
It look me a long time to realise that the faith I thought I had was completely dependent on one group and its leaders. Apart from that group, I didn’t know what I believed. I couldn’t answer questions about my faith. I had no assurance or confidence that I was acceptable to God.
This is a book about breaking free from bondage to any one particular group that claims exclusive spiritual authority and obedience to its own subjective rules.
But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.
